Dynamic SEMG

DYNAMIC SURFACE ELECTRO-MYO-GRAM:

This new device measures the amount of electrical activity your muscles release when they are contracting, more commonly knows as muscle tension. It is similar in function to an EKG(electro cardio gram) which measures heart muscle activity.

Car Accident Chiropractor | Best Chiropractor in Boston | Voted Best Chiropractor in Somerville    Note in this picture to the left that the patient is being put through a ROM (range of motion) while at the same time having her muscles tested such that we can see that she is actually using the musculature and not faking it.

Is it painful? No, not at all. This procedure is totally non-invasive causes no pain or irritation. All it requires is the placement of small probes on the skin and the test itself only takes a few minutes.

What's it for? Just as an EKG can help determine the health of your heart, the Myovision SEMG test results provide important physiological information which can help us determine the course of care. As well, this device can help us measure  a patient's response to care already given.

In the chart seen at right, we can see ROM measured in the bottom RED graph. In the upper two graphs seen in BLUE, we note the active muscle participation.

At Boston Spine Clinics, we strive to provide good documention for each and every case study. With that in mind, the addition of the Myovision SEMG is a fine example of that promise to our patients. Seen below, lumbar ROM being taken while the patient is simultaneously hooked up to the SEMG device to make sure she is active in muscle participation.
